DwellReady

Bathrooms

Safety and moisture in the room where floors get wet.

What DwellReady looks at

  • Whether the tub or shower has a sturdy grab bar within reach
  • How slip-prone the floor and tub or shower surfaces seem
  • Signs of moisture around the toilet, tub, and vanity
  • Whether outlets near water have GFCI protection (the small “TEST” buttons)
  • Whether the bath fan or window actually moves air out

Observable things only — nothing is opened, moved, or tested beyond what a homeowner can safely see.

Why it may matter

Bathrooms combine water, hard surfaces, and daily use — a combination that makes slips and moisture damage more likely than in almost any other room. Small changes here tend to be inexpensive and useful for every age.

Examples of possible recommendations

  • Add a grab bar at the tub or shower entry
  • Use a non-slip mat or strips in the tub or shower
  • Have GFCI protection checked for outlets near water
  • Run the bath fan (or open a window) during and after showers

These are examples of the kinds of suggestions this area can produce — your own walkthrough and answers decide what actually appears. They are things to consider, never verdicts.
